Semaglutide
Guide
Injections of semaglutide give overweight and obese patients an effective weight-loss solution. This revolutionary treatment helps patients feel full, preventing overeating. Studies have shown that people have lost 10% to 20% of their body weight in a 75-day period.
What is Semaglutide?
Semaglutide is a clinically proven weight-reduction option and was FDA-approved in 2021 for weight management. It has been available in other forms since 2017 (when lower-dose injection Ozempic™ was approved).
How Does It Work?
Semaglutide is a once-weekly injectable glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) RA—a class of medicines known as glucagon-like peptide receptor agonists.
Semaglutide produces similar effects to incretin, a type of hormone released naturally by your body when you eat food. This hormone sends signals to the brain, muscles, stomach, liver, and pancreas whenever nutrients are taken in.
When semaglutide signals the brain, endocrine, and gastrointestinal systems, this results in a complex cascade of hormones and neurotransmitters. It communicates a feeling of fullness. It also decreases gastric emptying, which helps you feel fuller faster.
The Benefits of Semaglutide for Weight Management
Semaglutide has become a game-changer in weight management, offering you not just significant weight loss but also a multitude of health benefits. By incorporating Semaglutide injections into your health routine, you can experience a noticeable reduction in both body weight and waist circumference. Moreover, this treatment helps improve key metabolic health markers like blood sugar levels and cholesterol, which are crucial for your overall well-being.
Beyond just aiding in weight loss, Semaglutide can contribute to enhanced cardiovascular health. This treatment is designed for the long-term sustainability of weight loss results, supporting you in maintaining a healthier lifestyle for years to come.
Our Semaglutide Weight-Loss Program
Once the program begins, you will be required to come in for a weekly office visit for your semaglutide injection and B12/MIC “slim” injections. Semaglutide is injected into the skin of the upper arm, thigh, or stomach. It must be administered on the same day each week.
There’s no downtime or recovery time needed after injecting semaglutide. There may be temporary minor swelling, redness, or itchiness at the injection site, but these will fade shortly.
We start you at a dose of 0.25mg of semaglutide, and every two weeks, your dose may increase, depending on side effects and tolerability. We recommend that you develop and maintain healthy eating and lifestyle habits, including exercise, during your time on our program.
Any side effects of the treatment may lessen as you continue to use semaglutide. Potential side effects include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, stomach (abdomen) pain, headache, tiredness (fatigue), upset stomach, dizziness, bloating, belching, gas, stomach flu, and heartburn.

Am I a Candidate?
Looking for an effective weight-loss option after finding no success with dieting and exercise? If so, semaglutide may be right for you! If you want to avoid bariatric surgery, this advanced non-surgical treatment is ideal.
Patients need to have a BMI of at least 27 to qualify for semaglutide. To determine eligibility, we require a baseline of certain blood tests within the last six months, along with a medical screening by our clinicians.
Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to get pregnant are not ideal candidates. Patients on insulin and certain diabetic medications may not qualify. If you have a family history of Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia type 2 (MEN2) or renal, liver, or pancreatic disease, you are not eligible for the program.
Patients with endocrine tumors in the thyroid, parathyroid, pituitary, pancreas, or adrenal glands are not good candidates for this treatment. If you have diabetes-related eye disease or vision problems, active gallbladder disease, kidney disease, stomach problems, or thyroid cancer (or if someone in your family has had thyroid cancer), semaglutide may not be right for you.
